The 2 Bears
‘Work’
This is the DFA-signed side project of Joe Goddard from Hot Chip and Raf Rundell. It’s an eye-wateringly ’80s bit of synth-pop, and we love it. If you don’t like the Pet Shop Boys, you really need to leave this well alone. If you do, chances are you’ll be a fan.

The Twilight Sad
‘Never Tear Us Apart’
So, The Twilight Sad covered this INXS classic as a special Christmas release, but we missed it in all the excitement of listening to ‘Christmas In Hollis’ over and over again. Here it is now though. Better late than never, right? It’s a stark, haunting version of the song, and is seriously ace.

Star Slinger
‘We Found Love Remix’
This an entirely frivolous remix of what we can all agree is the best Rihanna song yet. It still puts the Manc musician’s stamp very firmly on it though, stripping out virtually all of the vocals to leave just the chorus’ hook and ramping up a bubbly synth sound throughout.

Telekinesis
’50 Ways’
We just secured ourselves a copy of Seattle musician Telekinesis’ second album 12 Desperate Straight Lines, released last year on Merge, and it’s an absolute beaut. This is our favourite tune, and its Modest Mouse-type indie-rock is keeping us warm in the office through the chronic buzzkill that is the month of January. Enjoy.
