‘A Commotion’
Metals has been out for a while now, but it’s been this track in particular that we’ve had stuck in our heads all week. It’s one of the album’s noisiest, and is full of stabby, Final Fantasy-type strings and gruff, staccato group vocals. In short, it’s well Kate Bush.

Shabazz Palaces
‘Free Press And Curl’
This is the opening track from Black Up, the Seattle hip-hop collective’s debut album, released on Sub Pop earlier this year. It’s easily our favourite hip-hop record of the year, all J Dilla-esque beats and stirring lyricism.

Cloud Nothings
‘Stay Useless’
This is the second single to be released from the Ohio garage-band’s new album Attack On Memory, set for release early next year. You can really hear the influence of producer Steve Albini on the new material, but you still get a whole bunch of snotty, teenage power-pop for your buck.

‘Raw Meat’
New Black Lips! Yesss! This is them at their anarchic best. Good-time surf-vibes by the truckload.
